HISTORY |
1630 Present church and tower built. 1685 Treble and second cast by Christopher Hodson. 1713 Sanctus bell (re)cast by Richard Phelps. 1818 Tenor bell (present service bell) (re)cast by Thomas Mears II. 1887
Ring of 3 bells and Sanctus recorded by Stahlschmidt.
1940s Church damaged by bombing. The 2 trebles were stolen. 1950s Church restored. Sanctus bell scrapped and old frame removed. Tenor was hung on new headstock on girders. 1999
The new chime of 8 was installed, hanging on the existing girders, being the gift of Lord Gough, the Patron of the Living to celebrate the Millennium.
